"In the Name of Emmett Till" Book Discussion!
AAMP invites middle and high school educators, teens, and families to join author Robert Mayer and educator Rachel Nelson as they discuss Mayer’s latest book “In the Name of Emmett Till: How the Children of the Mississippi Freedom Struggle Showed Us Tomorrow,” which follows the little-known stories of the young Mississippians who were galvanized into activism by the horrific murder of Emmett Till. Written for teen readers, “In the Name of Emmett Till” introduces figures like Brenda Travis, the Ladner sisters, Sam Block, Anne Moody, Pearlena Lewis, and Hollis Watkins, who risked their lives to fight Jim Crow.
Copies of Mayer’s latest book “In the Name of Emmett Till: How the Children of the Mississippi Freedom Struggle Showed Us Tomorrow" can be purchased online at NewSouth Books or Indie Bound.
