“There is nothing new about poverty. What is new, however, is that we have the resources to get rid of it.”
- Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The African American Museum in Philadelphia honors Dr. King’s work in the war on poverty by making a change in our own backyard. On Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, the museum and Center for Hope are partnering to provide personal care packs to our brothers and sisters and those in Philadelphia experiencing homelessness. From warm socks and clean underwear to diapers, formula, and feminine hygiene products; we are committed to having a positive impact on those in need.
We invite you to live Dr. King’s legacy by joining us after work and school from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the top of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend Celebration, to pack donated items that will be delivered to the Center for Hope’s men and women’s shelters.

This event will serve as the launch for giving. The museum will continue to take in-person items and monetary donations through the end of the month of January. No admission is required to come and drop off items.
