AAMP Commune featuring LaTreice Branson!

On select Sundays, AAMP invites visitors to experience our exhibitions through the lens of a community conversation with museum staff, along with invited artists from our region. More than just an art talk, AAMP Commune is a community-led dialogue exploring key themes found within the exhibition, historical narratives, and our collective experiences as people. This one-hour dialogue starts with an introductory artistic response by our featured artists and is followed by an open dialogue.

This next installment of AAMP Commune centers on the work of Richard J. Watson, and features educator and performance artist LaTreice V. Branson, in conversation with her mother, minister, drummer and giver of love, Elder Paula Y. Branson. Elder Paula Y. Branson is a committed wife to Pastor Emeritus Jeffrey Branson of 40 years, and mother of four lovely daughters. Her drumming is empowered to provide a spiritual journey and her famous drum salutes have gone viral all over the world. Elder Branson is committed to teaching, ministering, and conducting energetic seminars, welcoming participants to experience compassion and unconditional love through the “beat of her life”.

LaTreice V. Branson is an award-winning educator, artist, disability advocate and radical wellness practitioner whose vivacious, performance lectures have influenced a reciprocal culture of sharing that unites marginalized communities. LaTreice is the founder of Drum Like a Lady, curating events that enhance personal and communal wellness through music programming, guided conversations, ecotherapy and disability advocacy. Branson will also share a few selections from her deep repertoire of music.
