Learning through the Arts: Julian Francis Abele!

Visit AAMP for fun, safe, and inspiring hands-on activities for youth and families on selected Saturdays each month. Held in our spacious auditorium, each drop-in Learning through the Arts workshop is designed with visitor and staff safety in mind and will draw on the rich thematic content in our exhibitions.

On this day, AAMP's youngest visitors will have a chance to make art using some of the tools and ideas that inspired the work of Julian Francis Abele, a prominent African-American architect, and chief designer in the offices of Horace Trumbauer. He contributed to the design of more than 400 buildings, including the Widener Memorial Library at Harvard University, Philadelphia's Central Library, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Participants will learn:
  • to design their own museum
  • elements of architectural design, drawing and interior drawing.

Led by visual artist Jihan Thomas of Original Seed Expressions, this drop-in hands-on workshop is the perfect complement to a visit to AAMP's galleries.

Advanced registration is strongly recommended; workshop capacity is limited to 25 people of 6 family groups. When on-site we ask that visitors age 3+ present with a face mask upon arrival; however if you happen to forget, 1 single-use face mask will be available upon entry. Your cooperation with our new admissions policy helps us reduce person-to-person contact and ensure that we are adhering to capacity limitations. Learn more about how we are keeping you safe and what you can do to help by viewing our Safety Tips online prior to your visit.

Please note our refund policy prior to purchasing your ticket: *Refund Policy All sales are non-transferable. No refunds or exchanges will be accepted.
